Pasiraman Dalem Pingit, also known as Penglukatan Dalem Pingit, is one of Sebatu Village’s most sacred water purification sites. Nestled among rice terraces, gardens, and tropical forest in Tegallalang, Gianyar, this holy spring offers a deeply serene environment for spiritual cleansing, reflection, and inner balance.
Unlike many purification locations in Bali, Pasiraman Dalem Pingit remains an authentic living ritual site — preserved by the local community and practiced as part of everyday spiritual life.
Penglukatan Dalem Pingit history and importance.
Penglukatan Dalem Pingit has long been known among the people of Sebatu as a natural holy water source used for melukat (spiritual cleansing). Public awareness of the site expanded in November 2007 following a remarkable spiritual event witnessed by a foreign visitor exploring the area.
According to local accounts, while bathing beneath the waterfall, the visitor noticed the water unexpectedly turn cloudy upon contact with the body. Feeling disturbed, the visitor immediately left the site. The incident quickly became known throughout the village and prompted spiritual concern among community elders.
In response, the elders of Sebatu customary village conducted a special ceremony on 24 November 2007, coinciding with the holy day of Tumpek Landep, to seek spiritual guidance regarding the meaning of the event.
Through this ritual, it was revealed that the site is spiritually inhabited by Dewi Uma and Dewi Gangga — deities associated with fertility, water, and purification in Balinese Hindu belief. Following this confirmation, sacred shrines (pelinggih) were built around the waterfall to honor and protect the site’s spiritual presence.
Since that time, Penglukatan Dalem Pingit has been formally recognized by the community as a sacred purification place, not merely a natural waterfall. Local residents regularly visit the site to perform melukat rituals aimed at cleansing negative energy, restoring inner balance, and maintaining harmony between humans, nature, and the spiritual realm.
The spring plays an important role in daily Balinese Hindu spiritual practice, especially for those seeking calmness, emotional clarity, and spiritual grounding.
Today, Dalem Pingit remains an authentic and living ritual site, carefully maintained by the people of Sebatu Village. While visitors from outside the village are welcome, participation is guided by local customs and overseen by temple caretakers or trained local guides.
This approach ensures that Penglukatan Dalem Pingit is not treated as a tourist attraction, but as a sacred space where tradition, belief, and community values continue to be preserved with respect.
